Just got the "angel contest khukuri"!!!

I just opened the box that contained the khukuri that John Powell sent me for winning that contest last week and I must say I'm pleasantly suprised!!! :)

Stay tuned for a full description and review as soon as I finish my 36 hour shift...Mondayish!!!:)

Thank you again John! This is actually a nice knife! Do you know how old it is and any history behind it? Thanks again!

Indian made in the mid to late 60s. I'm glad you think it's OK, but it lived in the 'box' among the other losers.

Now the other future winners will think they're getting something decent not total junk. You'll notice the first winner never posted a note. He's probably wondering why he entered the contest in the first place.

Beware free kukris...

Hey, no fair! :) I say you can't submit entries for a contest till after the contest starts and have em count. Since the contest has been deemed unfair (By me:D), The prize must be sent to me for disposal :D:p:D
 
Heber, have you not learned, in your time here, watching UBDOTDs, etc., that "old and sneaky" beats"young and eager" almost every time :D
 
I had a pal who wrestled in the Olympics when he was in college in the 135 weight class. At age 55 he was coaching high school wrestlers as a hobby and at about 150 lbs he'd beat the 200 pound 17 year olds routinely. I asked him how he managed to do it. I still remember his reply, "with deceit and guile."

the one with the velvet scabbard is the POC, and the othere is the rare, expensive contest prize Khukuri.

I'm reminded of an old sea story. On a dark and stormy afternoon in the Devil's Trianagle, the captain called me up to the bridge. (What had I done wrong now?)

"Martino, I droppped my gold plated coffee cup and broke it. Get me another by tomorrow."

"But, Captain. We're out at sea, a thousand miles from the nearest supply depot."

"Are you a goddamned storekeeper or not, Martino? Get me that cup and no excuses!"

Yessir.

So down to the radio shack. "Hey, Sparks. Send a message to supply Chief Carter over on the Hornet and ask him to put a gold plated coffee cup in tomorrow's mail drop. Tell him I'll send him 10 copies of Playboy."

Next day when the chopper drops our mail bag and there's the gold cup packed so it won't break and with my name on it. I take it up to the Captain and hand it to him.

"Well, where the hell's the coffee, Martino?"

but, being a visionary, I have no trouble imagining it. I am having a problem reading his mind (he are a ossifer, after all -lots of fine print) and I can't quite see the outcome of this contest....yet. :rolleyes:

As for the two Khukuries pictured above:
It looks like both have had their tangs repaired and reforged at the ricaso. The bottom one looks good, the top one looks like novice bait.

I agree with N2S, B looks to be the better Khuk and B looks like a cheep knife. No wait, B is also junk.:) Send it to me so I can properly dispose of it:D
