Just how rust-proof is the powder coating?

Thanks. That's what I'm going for, mostly slicing ability and looks.

I'm a little concerned about finding the right paint stripper. I already tried to strip a Kabar Becker BK-2, and after trying two different paint strippers, I still have only gotten about half the coating to come off. Perhaps I need something stronger?

Just avoid the environmentally safe stripper. That stuff doesn't work as well as normal paint stripper.

I used tape and slopped on some paint stripper and 10 minutes later using a razor blade ,the coating came off w/o a hitch.I did each side one at a time then the spine.. being paint stripper burns and I did not use gloves :D

That could be my problem. I tried to scrape off the coating with steel wool, which probably isn't enough. I'll try a razor blade.

Steel wool wont do it ,I would think...if so that is the hard way....
Razor blade and powder coat just peeled off

Thanks for the tip on how to remove the coating. I was wondering how to remove it as well, but was afraid of sounding silly by asking. ;)

So, I've successfully removed the coating from my knife using paint stripper and a razor blade. Since the paint stripper is toxic, what should I use to clean the knife and make it safe for food prep and other things?
