Just learned what an Emerson was for !!

This coming from the guy that states I am "waging war"..........LMAO.

Your post was meant to incite a reaction with your "knocking and laughing" comment. No one was doing either.

TROLL.
Who was "laughing" or "knocking" emerson? If anyone was "knocking" emerson it is him. Selling a 50 dollar knife for 200? Yea, he is the one talking smack. Everyone else is on topic to the OP and the thread was quite good.

Yup, that is his typical approach. I guess he felt he needed to get an unwarranted slam against Ernie for some reason. There was nothing negative about this thread until THE TROLL showed up.

it’s not a SLAM to say someone is able to make something more profitable than anyone else.. and I already TOLD you I have three of his knives. I love them. You think it’s an insult to say he’s been more profitable on a per knife basis than anyone else? Don’t be naive. In your rush to hurry up and insult me, you didn’t THINK about what I was saying.

Now go on and smash that keyboard, call me a troll in all caps, enlarge it, bold it for dramatic effect. That’s pretty much all you do.

Y’all can laugh all you want, but the guy figured out how to sell a $50 knife for $200. Knock it all you want, but he’s laughing all the way to the bank.
This post had nothing to do with the topic... designed to antagonize from the start.
Nobody here laughed at or was knocking the Emerson wave or his knives (yet).
Correct... the (yet) won't last long.
Just another TROLL comment, as we have come to expect from Paratrooper.
Report it instead of taking the bait.
Here we go. Another thread down the gutter. 🤦‍♂️
Not this time.

I've had one Emerson. CQC 7 IIRC. Fit n finish was poor. The wave seemed to tear up my pockets. It was my first and probably only Emerson. Maybe I just got a lemon. I paid $140 or so and it was a user. I sold it and got almost all my $ back.

For those that love Emerson knives or the wave feature (modified or zip ties, et all), more power to you.

Yup, not necessarily pocket friendly by any means. I ripped more than a couple pockets until the novelty wore off. It is/was still a very innovative feature, however.

Agreed. I learned that ... 1. I don't need to deploy a blade that fast . 2. I don't like ripping the top of my pants. 3. It is an innovative feature. Just one I don't need.
Did I miss something here? Anyone have a link to this "Spyderco video on Emerson"? 🤷‍♂️

I also wondered about the video. I wasn't sure what exactly the video said, I just posted about my one experience with an Emerson knife and the wave opener heh,

My guess would be this one from Spyderco's YouTube channel, or maybe another review of a Spyderco knife with the wave oprner on it.

(Edit: double linked video)

I just can't get on board with the wave feature. It works almost TOO well. While it is nice to have the knife ready at hand when I draw it from my pocket, being that I am WAY more likely to need to fish the thing out of my pocket while sitting down in my truck so that I can secure it in my glove box before entering a restricted building than I am going to need to tactically deploy a folder rapidly, the risk of it coming partially open when I don't want it to is greater than the benefit.

I will say that my ZT 630 is a fine knife and certainly springs into action as designed. It certainly think it feels very well made. My biggest complaint on that one is that even a bit of pressure on the frame lock makes using the thumb disk awkward at best and almost impossible under a stressful situation. I think the wave works great, but a secondary opening method like the disk would work better on a frame lock or lock back where the lock isn't so easily jammed up with unwanted pressure.

So for me, spydie hole/stud/flipper tab/automatic before choosing a knife with a wave feature, especially sporting a frame lock. I get most of my novelty high-speed low-drag fix on a Cold Steel budget and spend most of my money of Emerson price level in other genres of knives.

Interesting, I have never had that problem. Mine flies open every time, in fact it is one of the smoothest opening knives I have. It almost feels like it is on bearings. And I find I get a very positive lock on the thumb disk instinctively. But everyone is different, so could just be the shape/size of your hands or how you grip it.

Totally could be that. While I don't have a overly large hand, the way my grip naturally falls right in line with the cut out on the frame I'm sure us causing the issue. To be fair, I also keep the pivot a bit tighter because blade wobble irks me.

I got my BiL the orange zt 0630 for Christmas a few years back. I'm absolutely kicking myself for not picking up one for myself. Now they're gone

I had an Emerson Bulldog that I carried for a while, but that G10 was like sandpaper, so I let it go.
