History of this knife as I know it...
Funny thing is... I wasn't even aware of this knife until a knife collecting buddy who knew of my interest in Buck knives told me about the post on another forum.
It's a 1998 Buck 112. Since Cumberland Mountain Knife & Tool is on the blade, I assume they did the auto conversion. In 1999 the collector bought the knife from Adams who I'm assuming did the fossil walrus scales, mother of pearl button and the filework. The bolster engravings were done by Fred A. Harrington sometime after the collector purchased the knife from Adams. The collector had passed away and his sister-in-law had inquired about its value as part of his estate. After I gave an estimate, I let her know I would be interested in purchasing it. I was told there was another gentleman interested in the knife and she'd let me know if it was still available. About a week later she hadn't heard from the other gentleman so it was mine if I was still interested (at less than my estimate). After I told her to give him another week to correspond, I was sitting on 'pins & needles' waiting to see if the knife was still available.
The rest is 'new' history. I stuck with my estimate price and added a bit more since I was feeling 'low' with the passing of my dog Clyde and it seems one of her dogs is having trouble with cancer and undergoing chemotherapy.
