I have an Altoids tin w/ "mini" survival kit in. It's a snug fit in the pouch, but it carries many of the "basics" I need. Contents include:
Sparklite w/ tinders
inner tube strips (extra tinder). Stinks, but burns long.
2' x 2' piece of foil
3" x 5" paper sheets
pencil nub
Brunton button compass
scalpel blade
Fox 40 whistle
Photon II (white)
10 ft. duct tape
15 feet - small, braided nylon cord.
awl needle
6 safety pins
2 alcohol wipes
2 elastic bandaids
I supplement this set-up with a contractor' grade trash bag and a mylar space bag (in a small nylon belt pouch), and my SAK (also on a belt pouch), and I'm set!
Wow thats a lot of stuff, I have to wait till wednesday before i get it then I will figure out the contents. Those are all great Ideas . I will have to make 2 different ones because I hunt in the desert and camp in the mountains.
My Surefire M2 fits in there, but the flap is just slightly too small to allow velcro to velcro contact. I made up my own band of velcro which now holds the flap firmly down.
