When I first saw that the knife was "ecologically sound", I figured I wasn't
really interested - but then after seeing on a youtube that it was about the
size of a Delica, lightweight, and 110'ish (I have an old school 110, which is
too heavy for EDC pocket carry), and a nice green color, I had to have one.

Looking forward to it! Anyone out there enamored (or otherwise) with
one of these?

The 112 Ecolite arrived today. Man, what a beauty! SHAVING sharp (as good as any Spydie I've gotten in the past, and that's dozens),
very sheeple friendly (I work in an office), and so much lighter weight than the wood 110/112 versions. Almost as light as my Delicas (which
are my usual EDC). Blade action opening and closing is perfect - snaps shut, but easy opening too.

A new EDC has arrived...:)

And the sheath seems pretty good, too. A snap instead of velcro (which inevitably stops working when all the daily crap gets in there).
I think I could probably throw the sheath in the wash if it got too cruddy. Yeah, it's nylon instead of leather, but not bad!

I like what Buck does with their nylon sheaths--the foam padding is nice!:thumbup:

Sounds like a Buck knife I bought from the PX at Camp Casey Korea in 1988. Mine had a stainless bowie-type blade and dark-medium green plastic handle. Does yours have a bowie-type blade? Got a pic?

Blast you guys! Now I'm trying to remember what ever happened to mine once I got out of the Army.:D

Edb,

That's just about what my old lil' buck blade looked like. But the handle is quite different.

Is the Ecolite blade made of different steel from the 112 and 110?

Mine is back in Buckland getting the wobble taken out of the lock...it was so bad the scales were coming apart about 2mm.

After a month of EDC, and some use (not hard; couple vines growing over the fence, boxes, strings, a couple steaks ;) ) it's
still paper slicing sharp - I haven't even touched it up. Nice weight in the pocket of my jeans. No complaints in the least!

And, a couple compliments on the green scales.

Carried it in the sheath a couple times, but it's a little much to have a cell phone, a leatherman, and the 112 all on my belt, so
the 112 stays in my pocket most of the time.
