Just ordered a j rodgers barlow in stainless

I have a couple Rodgers slipjoints, including that one. Their workmanship is middling at best. The shape is more swayback than barlow. It's usable, constructed simply and elegantly. Spring is somewhat lazy, maybe a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10. Almost fiction folder-like, very little snap. Stock edge was poor, but sharpened up OK, and seems decent steel. Rodgers seems to be a low end UK made brand. The can usually be found inexpensively, when they can be found. Their distribution in the US is pretty spotty these days.

It arrived today and totally agree with you

It's solid and can see it lasting as long as me but out of the box the edge was basically ground but unfinished (it is now :-) ) there's a tiny ding on top of blade and heat treatment marks that haven't been polished off the blade and one of the handles has a scratch

But apart from that the slipjoint snaps open and stays open and it takes a bit of effort to open the blade.
The knife is slim and disappears in the pocket and also has a really cool false edge which I like

It's agracultural but I like it and will get better with bit of pocket wear I think will try a more premium model next time maybe an a Wright then an American like case after that !

It's on par with a rough rider I reckon build wise which says allot about rough rider the spring is way tougher on the rodgers though the blade is better on my rough rider copperhead out of the box
