Just ordered cqc7v

Because im my opinion it doesn’t cut as well as say a Griptilian which cuts even with no pull or vear to the side. And my opinion easier to sharpen just my opinion though

Wait so the 7v still has a chisel grind? Is it like a "chisel edge" where the sharpening bevel is chisel but the main blade grind is a V?

That’s the reason but I don’t find it any easier nor does it cut any better. Jmo

Guys I tried turning my cqc7v into a true V edge. I wasn't experienced enough and created a recurve. So I took it to be professionally fixed. Now that I have a true V edge cqc7v (v edge, v grind) all I can say is that it is not worth it. (IMHO) The vground + chisel edge (Cqc7v) Emersons already cut nearly as straight as a true V edge. They do not pull wildly to one side like a chisel edge + chisel grind do. (cqc7b)

The only thing you get is an Emerson that takes twice as long to sharpen. With the chisel edge you just sharpen the main edge, then sharpen the front edge, and knock the burr off the back. V edges require equal attention for both sides. (That's two sides on the main edge, two sides on the tip edge in terms of tantos.) With the chisel edge and v grind you sort of get the best of both worlds. It is fast and easy to sharpen, while not pulling to one side as hard as a true chisel grind.

The Vgrind + chisel edge is actually genius.

I definitely wouldn’t risk it myself, so u found no benefit to reprofilling the edge if not I might just leave it?

I think the 7V would look great bolstered. But you seem talented enough to try this: a CQC-7 custom blade with reverse full chizel , so that the flat side is the presentation side. A mirror image of a standard 7 blade, that would be a winner in my books!

Why bother with a V grind mod? The chizel edge on the V does a great job and it's easier to maintain on an EDC blade.

Ya I think the 7v is a home run, but your idea is pretty cool too

Your better off to leave it cause he is right, I had a mini 15 and they have v edges and I cut a paint stick with it vs my bulldog and while the pulling of the chiseled edge don’t bother me the mini had less pull and is super easy to dress like a regular chiseled edge

There is some benefit. The true V edge does cut abit more evenly. However the tiny benefit in cutting you get is not worth taking away all the advantages of the chisel edge. (Chisel edge, Vgrind)
