I just ordered my first Dozier from A.G. Russell. It is the Dozier 1943 Fighter. Here is the link http://www.agrussell.com/knives/by_maker/a_through_d/dozier_knives/dozier_1943_fighter.html

I should have it in about 10 days. I plan to carry it when I run at night since we have a lot of dogs running around my neighborhood. Considering it will give me a longer reach than the 4 inch benchmade Auto knife that I usually carry and had to use in defense against two dogs a few weeks ago. Fortunatly I only suffered a few bits to my left arm in that encounter. Any way this Dozier looks like it should work well for my needs.

For that amount of money, I'd hire a body guard to run with me ;)
Or I'd buy a gun but it is a beautiful knife!
God Bless
Gideon

I have guns, but I would only use them as a last resort. It is much easier to justify using a knife than it is a gun in a highly populated area.

That's a beautiful knife, Dozier excels in fit and finish. The only concern I would have is the grip being slippery (and maybe it's not), I'd like to hear your thoughts on that after you've held it.

Congratulations!

I have viewed this knife on AG's site but have not read anything else about it, including the Dozier forum.
Looks awesome.

Give us some feedback after you get it.... :)

With Dozier's knives, you get more than what you pay for. Have a couple of Doziers, and they are great knives, they perform superbly. Randall model 1 design, D2 blade, Dozier made, what more can you ask for ? Congrats on your new knife.

The Blade is not made of D2 it is made of A2. Trust me I will happy to give you my thoughts on it when it arives.

Has anyone used one of Doziers fighters if so how do they hold up? He has a nice bowie knife on his web page, but no price.

Are you Really going to carry it running...

Seems a bit conspicious, not to mention extremely uncomfortable. 13+ inches of knife... How about some pepper spray for the dogs?

A $900 jogging knife... whoa.

Yes I am really going to wear it runing. I live in Arizona so I can carry any size fixed blade I want. Besides I never have been a fan of pepper spray or mace because neither one is 100% effective. The only problem may be the sheath on the plus side my dad can always make me one in any carry position I want. He does leather work as a hobby and is very good at it.

Why buy a copy of a Randall? Just buy a Randall. They have improved since 1943 and you don't have to get it with a left handed sheath either.

However, for dog protection, you have to get too close with a knife. Plus you may kill the dog and then have to worry about the owner. That pepper spray would work better or a broom stick handle would be cheaper..

Why buy a copy of a Scagel? (which I believe is where Randall started his design with). Just buy a Scagel. :D

Oh, an a few years wait if going through the shop... :)

Very seldom do you get FAR more than you pay for.

But Dozier knives are one of those rare exceptions. :):):):) Congratulations for finding one of the best kept secrets in the knife world.:thumbup:

why make this post? he already said he doesnt like pepper spray, and a broom handle would be pretty useless.

he has chosen a beautiful knife by a very respected maker.

enjoy it mr. bowie.
