Hello all. I've always been curious about CRK. My birthday was on Monday and my in laws got me a 50 gift card for BladeHq. Well I looked for 4 hours last night and the only thing that caught my eye was the Sebs. So i jumped lol. Picked up a Large Sebenza 21 Double Stud. What do you CRK pros think of my choice for a first time? And thoughts or tips on the knife are greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time guys.

Congrats, and great choice !
Hope so. I couldn't pick between that or a Sebenza 25, but the 25 wasn't in stock at BladeHq where I had the gift card, (looked at some 25s on fleabay, guy wouldn't respond to questions) so went with 21. I went with double stud, is that normal, only having one? I thought it would be weird for me

I was recently in a similar situation (except BHQ had the 25 in micarta when I was deciding). Even with both options available I still went with the 21 (except I got a single stud). I'm quite happy and will speculate you will be also.

Then again, it's the CRK forum, so I doubt you'll get many negative responses;)

Nice score, next will be a small 21. then some inlays, insingo, umnumzaan :D

Yeah I'm pretty excited. I have a lot of over built stuff. Hinderer XM24, several ZT's, Spyderco Military, Paramilitary 2, Benchmade 300 SN flipper and bunch of ESEE'S. I don't know how else to describe it, but I feel like it's a 'gentleman's folder'. It looks exact, precise. Plus I'm think there pretty tough and solid correct? I like my over built stuff but I needed something a little 'classier' lol.

I'd suggest your assessment is correct. They are quite tough so long as your uses are not idiotic. If used as a knife, they are very robust, yet they seem to exude class and a touch of elegance (sort of like the secret service, they are actually pretty hardcore, but they dress nice;))

Ha! I really like that... secret service. ....

You will love it I'm sure. My first (and only for now) is a small 21 inlay in African Blackwood. I absolutely love it!

Couldn't go wrong with your choice, and the double thumbstuds balance out the look. You started with a classic.

Good on ya!

Congrats on the purchase.

I went through the same thing trying to decide between zaan, seb 21, seb 25, then which style of blade and handle. Finally ordered a large carbon fiber insingo seb21. Hopefully carbon fiber is durable.

Now the wait...

Excellent choice for your first CRK. It should serve you well. I'm partial to the double lugs and prefer double lugs with me left handed. CRK has excellent Customer Service and will take care of any issues should you incur any with your CRK. I've yet had to send a CRK back for service, but folks do it all the time and you can read their responses here.
Once you get your CRK, do post pics and share your first impressions!!!! :)

Here it is. I am amazed. Pictures really do not do this knife justice. I finally get what everyone is talking about. I swear to god the first thing I thought after handling this for a few minutes was what bills do I have and can I afford the 25 right now? This amazes me just as much as my Hinderer. With that I can't believe how solid and over built it is, but with this, it's crazy. I don't have to tell you guys lol its the CRK forums. But seriously, if someone is reading this and is on the fence about getting one, do it. This is my first and I'm sad I waited this long. I'm going to upload some pics here. I have some questions for the pros: how careful do I have to be when I unlock the knife? Every single frame lock knife I have has the over travel stop. I just want to know if it is easy to do and I need to pay super attention or I would have to try to do it. Also, this lanyard on here. I'm not a lanyard guy so is this easy to untie and retie or does it need to be cut off. And lastly, the registration card, can it be done online, and either way what does doing that get you? Thanks guys and let me know what you think of here!

As always, a good looking piece. I have the LH version and absolutely love it.
You'll get a feel for the tension on the lock bar so you shouldn't be prone to over extending it. Most of mine are not stiff at all on the 21's. I find the 25 a little stiffer, but not that much more. The Zaan IMO has the stiffest lock bar.
You have the tools to take it down to remove the lanyard completely. I'm a fan of the lanyard, but most folks just take it out and put in the box. That way, if you ever decide to get rid of it, you'll have the lanyard.
I've never filled out the registration card on any of my CRK's so I don't have a clue what it gets you.
BTW, you have a really sweet collection of blades, and the CRK's have bronze phosphorus washers.....:)

Thanks brother! The collection is getting there. I was going to try and get a Strider SMF next, but every time I search for it the horror stories of lock troubles and customer service come up! I think next might be the Sebenza 25, but everyone here keeps talking about the Zaan. All I know is the Striders scare me now lol. Also with the lanyard, is this an easy break down? I don't want to mess this baby up she's pretty sweet. When you put it back together does it center up easy?

...Large Sebenza 21 Double Stud. ....

I never thought much of the double studs from a practical point of view (unless you are a lefty stuck with a righty knife)...................until I got my first one. I am a convert to the double stud - nice selection!
