I just ordered my grail knife (a CRK umnumzaan) from Newgraham. I had the funds for a while but just couldn't really pull the trigger for some reason. I have a lot of spydercos and benchmades but none over 200$. So finally with some coercion from my girlfriend to just get it because I've been obsessing over it for some time now. I forked over an extra 30$ for overnight shipping because I can't wait. So I guess its time to find a new grail!! :D What is it like when you receive your grail? Also discuss umnumzaans!

Congrats! Can't wait to see pix. . . .

But, you're correct, that's the problem with "grails" -- once you score one, you're thinking about the next one. Kinda the same with girlfriends too. ;)

Naw, just kidding there brother. Actually, it sounds like you have a good girl there if she's willing to "coerce" you into buying a CRK!

To answer your last question... What kind of "grail" you are asking about?

I've had a Brend Nemesis as well as a 97 D/A Socom p/e bead blast tanto. I sold them 3 weeks after they came. I couldn't justify owning a knife that I couldn't carry and use. My true "grail" is a custom Navajah (mid size between M and L Espada) by Andrew Demko and it's in my pocket every day. It's the most overbuilt folder I own and it does not get babied. OTOH, I'm not a collector. I'm a user who accumulates a small amount of keepers. I own less than 20 knives.

Just ordered myself my grail an hour ago too :) just so happens to also be a Umnumzaan lol :)

Haha thats awesome! Yeah this knife will be getting used. I'm pretty excited about it. but sadly after I ordered it I was looking for any good deals on the forums. This is a sickness! lol

It's not a sickness it's a hobby that needs to be encouraged! Just wait untill you get into the customs! LOL

It feels great. I just got my first $500 knife (way more than I've spent before) last week. You'll know the difference. Just keep it real and in perspective. Don't expect a light saber. It's a knife and a good one but it is what it is. Congrats and enjoy.
PS Know when to put it away and pay attention to your GF :)

I love these threads, its always awesome to get a new knife, especially a CRK, got me a small sebenza 21. Locks up like a bank vault

I'm almost in the same boat as you!

I've had the funds for my grail (CRK Annual Sebbie) but just didn't want to drop that amount of money.

My girlfriend pushed me into buying it and even offered to pay 1/4 of the cost. :D

Congratulations on achieving your grail man, the Umnumzaan is a sweet looking folder. :D

In my experience, a grail is only a grail until it's in my posession. Once I own that grail, it's on to a new one. Some call it a sickness when it is actually a disease.

Moonberrys,

The "hunt" is always better then the "kill".

Carry on :)

I put up 5 of my duplicate Spydercos and when they are sold, I should have close to 900-1000 or so and it's going on a knife that costs 500 or more. (loads to pick from at that price) I'm having a really really hard time selecting something that costs 500 and up. But, it takes a lot of hours and is great fun.

I have been looking at the custom folders by Mikkel Willumsen and I don't know much about him as a maker, but his knives sure do look nice.
This is a ti frame-lock with a 4 and a half inch blade, that's caught mt eye. (CPM154)

Jill, you do realise that once you cross that road there's no going back? ;)

Jill,

You will be entering a whole new world there, especially customs.

They are like Lays potato chips. :D

Well, there are no shortage of wow customs out there. I would suggest browsing the exchange, no shortage of great deals there. Otherwise there are several good dealers: Steel Addiction, True North Knives, Robertson's Custom Cutlery, Knife Art, EDC Knives, to name a few.

I just have an urge for a WOW! Knife.:D And it's going to have a 4" or better blade, because I think it will increase the wow factor.
