Just ordered new Schatt & Morgan

Do they actually call it a swayback? It's a beautiful knife, but it's not a swayback IMO! It's a curved Jack if you consult most sources.

Charlie,

What makes a Swayback?

Is a reverse peanut a swayback?
A mini-trapper?

Charlie, beautiful jigged bone on your 2 blade "smaller version" and impressive swages. I'd like to know it's maker please. (i doubt his name is Deetoo).

Boy am I glad to see that S&M Wharncliffe!

I have a nice Ray Cover Wharnie, but have had my eye out for something heavier, and this is it!!

Good point. I too have been waiting for a heavy duty (so to speak) Wharncliffe and when I saw this one I ordered it immediately.

The Case Swayback Wharncliffe is a really nice knife but only 3 1/5" -- barely longer than the 3" GEC #65 Pattern Wharncliffe Jack.

neeman, A swayback jack, in the usual terminology, has a "concave" backspring, similar curve to a congress, but it's a jack.

Roland, that's a Tony Bose Wharncliffe Trapper in D-2. The bone is "Old Bone" formerly known as "Rem Bone" from a closed factory.

waynorth is correct.
this particular schatt is a swaybelly, not a swayback.
as ed pointed out, case makes a fine swayback pattern designed by tony bose.
its handle "sways" the in the other direction.
but, this is queen after all - i remember when they released a "wharncliffe whittler" a few years ago (twice, actually) that was a serpentine half whittler with a california clip blade!
they make some sweet knives, but i have to really question the knowledge of some of those guys....

I love the looks of their knives. The only reason I haven't bought one is I don't know what steel they use and if it's any good.

I do not need to question their knowledge when I hold thier knives in my hand :)

i agree.
like i said, they make great stuff, but some of the flat-out wrong names they stick on these things are just baffling.

I've never really been drawn to Wharncliffe blades, but thats a beauty.
Great steel too

Man oh man...there's another one I'm going to have to buy. You folks are going to lead me to financial ruin!
