Just Picked Up A Benchmade TSEK

The first thing that impressed me about the knife is how amazingly smooth it opens. I already have a Benchmade Griptillian, and I'm used to the smooth opening action of that knife, but the TSEK really opens effortlessly.

For a fairly large folder, the TSEK is very comfortable to EDC. It is both thin and light. Much easier to carry around than say, my large CRKT Crawford-Kasper.

I also like the fact that the clip the TSEK does not interfere with the handling qualities of the knife. I find on almost 1/2 my knives I end up taking the clip off because it feels crappy in my hand.

Lockup is good and solid, as I would expect from it having an Axis lock. Again, the G10 grips feel great, which is to be expected as they are the same as on the AFCK.

I'm a little bummed because I ended up paying full retail for this knife at a local dealers: $140. I see this knife going for as low as $82 online, which is a bit misleading since everyone seems to be out of stock on them. Not surprising since this model is no longer in production. So, I decided to take the plunge.

Oh, one last thing. This knife has "Pre-Production 0711/1000" silk screened on the blade. My Gripillian has a similar message on it's blade, but as far as I know on the Griptillian that really doesn't add anything to the collectability or value of that knife. Does it add anything to the value of my new Tsek?

Well, first of all AFCKs and TSEKs are getting rare and desirable..(some are going for $200)

Anything with pe production o first production run or limited run anything like that will usually make the knife worth more than a similar blade with nothing on it. Normally they are only "saleable" if the knife is unused and in the box. Other wise once you use it you devalue the knife.

Heres a couple of mine. I am not a big fan of part serrated blades ut this TSEK was NIB and collectible so I bought it.

They are great knives, and it is worth all of what you paid for it and will appreciate it in value, as long as it's NIB. Otherwise just use it and enjoy it for the fine tool it is.

If you notice the one with tip down carry holes is about .250" longer than the other one.

I finally got some time to take some pictures of my new TSEK. I've decided to take people's advice and just store it and hope it appreciates in value.

Here are some shots of it along with some of my other Benchmades for reference.

Not quite as impressive as Z28's, though.:(

The other knives are my Griptillian and my first Benchmade, an old Butterfly I bought around the mid 80's.

i also recently pick up a Tsek (one week ago now)
second hand from a friend of mine (i was unpleased with appearing loctite on a screw)

here it is !

mine seems to be 0026/1000
it's a liner lock and not the axis one !
I love the blade shape, much better than the 710 (my personal taste:) )
Steel is GIN-1 for this modele

Any particular reason people prefer the 710 over the Tsek?
may-be because the blade is recurve?
