It kicked a small Sebenza 21 out of my pocket. The Sebenza appears to be better built, but not by much. And the ergos definitely go to the Sage 2 IMHO.

Nice knife, Sal. :D

Thanx much.

We've have been fortunate in that it seems we've managed to attract some very good makers.

I've been EDC-ing my Sage 2 lately because of the quality plus the fact that the wire clip is so easy on my pants. My Sebenzas seem to shred the prockets pretty fast.

I'm Loving all my Sages (1,2,3), I wish I had more pockets ;) The last two days the Sage2 has been in my pocket though. I'll be getting #4 when it comes out and can't wait to hear what lock #5 will have.

If I knew when I bought my small Sebenza what I know now, I probably would have just bought the Sage 2 and used the money I spent on the Sebenza for another purchase. Having said that, I know I wouldn't have a problem getting my money out of the Sebenza if I decided to sell it, so I don't have any regrets. And I've always got my large Sebenza to keep me warm. ;) But if anyone decided to buy a Sage 2 rather than a small Sebenza for the excellent ergos and the difference in price, I sure wouldn't blame them.

The titanium scales and ergos of the Sage 1 really appeal to me. Also, I have yet to see a bad picture of the Sage 2. :) It's next on my list. Good purchase bld522.

Sage 2 is my weeknight sleep edc! Also one of the smoothest opening knives I have!

My post should have said "Both the titanium scales of the Sage 2 and the ergos of the Sage 1 really appeal to me, so I think I would really like Sage 2. Also, I have yet to see a bad picture of the Sage 2. The Sage 2 is next on my list."

Is that better Seanifred? My earlier post really didn't make sense, did it?

I briefly owned a small Sebenza, before owning a Sage 2. For my money the Sage is, as an overall package, the better knife. The ergonomics are vastly superior in terms of handle shape, choil, and Spydiehole rather than the small, slick thumb stud on the Sebenza. I prefer the FFG blade, and from my standpoint the build quality is surprisingly close. The fact that the Sage costs a fraction of the price is just a side benefit.

The only real advantages I see to the small Sebenza are its compactness and ease of maintenance. I'll probably hang onto mine. But in the long run, I doubt it will see the amount of pocket time my Sage 2 will.

I love my Large Sebenzas but the Sage 2 led me to sell my Small. For the money, I don't think you can beat the Sage for Ti frame lock.

Yep. If the Sage 2 proves one thing, it's that not all imports are created equal.

I have a Sage 2 but it is still sitting in its box unused. I like the looks but the cutout for the lock I don't like in use. It results in my grip being much smaller for my index finger than the rest of my fingers. That's not the best description but my finger falls into the cutout and wraps all the way around the knife and just feels weird. Just want to point out that the ergos don't work for everyone. Other than that it feels and looks like a great knife.

i figured thats what you meant. but on the internets, you never do know.

I see what you're talking about, FlaMtnBkr. Fortunately, when I hold the Sage 2 in a hammer grip, the cutout for the lock falls directly under the knuckle joint of my index finger rather than wrapping all the way around the knife. As a result, the grip feels very natural and secure to me. The small Sebenza, on the other hand, isn't nearly as hand filling as the Sage is. That's why I gave the ergo advantage to the Sage. But as you said, what works for me may not work for everyone.

I still can't decide if I like my Sage 2 better than my Sage 1. I do love the Ti Frame-locks, but I'm not a fan of smooth, naked, Grey Ti on the scale-side (and so far, Spyderco's laminate CF is the nicest I've ever seen/felt). I'm thinking of having my 2 flame-treated to a pretty Blue, having some machining texturing done to it, or replacing with a liner/G-10 scale.

Unfortunately, nearly all of those options get me into small Sebenza territory (or close to it). Still, I'd rather have my Sage 2 where I want it than a plain-Jane small Sebenza.
