Just picked up a Sage 2

I'm not a fan of smooth, naked, Grey Ti on the scale-side of a knife either. That's why I replaced the scale on my large Sebenza with a sculpted, jade green, G-10 scale from peter r. And when I decided to buy a small Sebenza, I got one with Ironwood inlays. But for some reason, the texture of the scale on the Sage 2 doesn't seem to bother me. Don't ask me why

I had a small seb on order until I got my Sage 2, fit and finish just amazing and ergo's like they made it just for me plus the outstanding price and what you have is a big winner:thumbup: in my book

How about swapping out the non-lock side scales between the Sage 1 and 2? That should get rid of the too-smooth feel and at the same time keep the fantastic ergos of the Sage line.

JohnWayneColt45 did that in one of his videos - I have both and have considered it, but to be honest, I'd love to get hold of another Sage 1 liner and put it on the Sage 2 and just get some custom G-10 scales made for it (so I can keep the Sage 1 pretty as it is).

Having owned a couple of large classic sebenza (not 21)... I ended up not seeing the need for it. It was an amazing knife but Spyderco has the only productions knives IMO that come close to the tight tolerances and "feel" of the Sebenza for about half the cost. That said, the limited supply Kershaw Speedform was a beaut of a knife and silky smooth, the detent just wasn't that great though compared to the Sebbie and Sage. Not sure if there are any other knives I could compare to the Sebenza... Chokwe?

Ti Millie?

Having owned the G-10/Ti Military - not quite as close as the Sage 2 but still superb.
The Chokwe is also nice, but the overall feel, while still of superb quality, still doesn't give the same sense of close tolerances as a Sebenza.

Having never owned an Acies I could not comment.

Afterthought: Bradley Alias 1/2. Owned the model from about 3-4 years ago and it was nowhere close - perhaps QC?
Not even as nice as some of the Benchmade Blue Class I've owned.

I came to this forum looking for my first 'real' knife. Upon seeing this thread I knew I had to have a Sage 2.
I just got it in my hands 3 days ago and have fallen in love. Great knife! The only thing I did not like was the finish on the Ti so I stonewashed the scales.
Seems like an excellent introduction into quality folding knives.

Thanks spyderco!

The Sage2 is my favorite of the series, well until I can compare it to the 4 anyway.

Pictures of that mod? Sounds pretty cool and would love to see it. John

I am going to pick up my first Spyderco's this Tuesday. I have decided to make one of them the Sage 2. It looks so awesome. There are a lot of Spyderco's that are so cool. Wish I had more than $450 to spend on knives. :D

the sage 2 is an absolutely phenomenal knife. It is a work of art. Simplicity, function and form all merged together using top quality materials. A true masterpiece!

Nater3, That looks just about perfect. If I had the huevo's I would do that as well. Nice JOB!!!!
