I have two very similar to this one, but without the little finger guard. John
Its unmarked but I'm pretty sure its a Jarvenpaa. The sheath has a round Made in Finland mark on it like other older Jarvenpaa puukot I have seen.Who made this one? John
Change 1! I remembered on another wall of knives I DO have that same knife with the finger guard. The blade is inscribed Made in Finland, and in the fuller Iisakki Jarvenpaa Kauhava, so you are correct. My blade is 150mm long, how long is the one you have? I like the unmarked blade better than the inscribed one I have. JohnIts unmarked but I'm pretty sure its a Jarvenpaa. Thanks for the confirmation on Jarvenpaa, although it seems that lots of makers in Kauhava all made knives that all looked alike be it this design or any of the standard Kauhava puukko designs. Sometimes when you look at them you might think they were all made by the same people in the same shop, the only difference being the name inscribed on the blade... LOL.....
I have two other puukkos, with the same butt, stacked birch bark handles and the same blades. The only difference is no finger guard, just a brass, decorated bolster, both also made by Jarvenpaa. JohnIts about the same, 5 3/4" blade.

Jarvenpaa has made quite a number of knives using this larger blade with different handle configurations. There are ball pommels, hook pommels, horsehead pommels, with solid birch, birchbark and galalith handles.I have two other puukkos, with the same butt, stacked birch bark handles and the same blades. I do not have one like that. One of the other two puukkos must be fairly old as the sheath is that pressed, waxed cardboard (?) and has the red shield with the Finnish Lion on it. This one is a more recent horsehead puukko with the 15cm blade, the Vallesmanni.

Yeah, the pahvituppi or cardboard sheath dates from WW2 and few years after.I do not have one like that. One of the other two puukkos must be fairly old as the sheath is that pressed, waxed cardboard (?) and has the red shield with the Finnish Lion on it. John
