It's a very forgiving steel, lots of custom makers cut their teeth on 52100, it's a good learnin' steel for stock removal and forging. I have a few blades in 52100 and I consider them workhorse knives. :)
 
I've been wantin' to take the coating off my Howlin' Rat someone told me oven cleaner will take it right down to bare 52100.

Matt here's an Azwelke sheath Al made for my Howlin' Rat, It is one of my favorites, his fit was spot on, considerin' I didn't have to send him my knife, his blanks fit perfect. :thumbup:
