Just placed an order for Manix 2 (CPM4) Steel

You should know us knife crazed folks normally never ask first it’s alway buy first and then wonder :D Especially me lol.

I would definitely be guilty of this before. and Before that...and before that....

You might be onto something if it was a big concern of mine, which wasn't. Edge retention is the big selling point for this steel, for me. I was merely trying to get a little feedback on what I might expect from people who actually own this knife or a knife that uses the cpm4 blade steel, that's all.

I meant no disrespect saying that just seemed like a before question. Honestly unless you are in an extremely humid climate or at the ocean your knife will be fine with minimal care. I use 1095 with no coating here in muggy Florida without any problem. M4 in a small folder like this is doesnt really have much in the way of downsides.

As a side note, who here with a Manix prefers the lock over compression lock and why?

Thanks for clearing up and your favorable opinion on this steel.

A pm2 compression lock kind of pinches my finger when opening if I don’t make a mental note to position my finger differently . Not painful just annoying . Love the pm2 though but prefer the manix 2 if I’m going to split hairs . Might try a military in the near future in m4 but it’s got a huge handle to blade ratio which has stopped me in the past from pulling the trigger .

I'm not a big Spyderco fan ... but I will give credit where its due IMHO they do make knives that may not appeal to my eye ... but they are very functional knives ... I own 3 Spydercos that I have liked enough to keep ... I really like the Native 5 and it is by far my favorite Spyderco ... I own a PM2 which although I still find it ugly as can be it just works ... and the 3rd is a Manix 2 ... and if it had been offered in M4 at the time I bought mine that would have been my steel choice.

I think you will be happy with a Manix 2 and the M4 steel may surprise you ... I know I was very pleasantly surprised with it after using it awhile.
