I went down to my local tractor supply a few weeks back and saw a trapper I liked. The employee let me open hold it and see if i wanted it but I held out. Well I just went back down and decided I wanted it. Behind the displays they keep the new ones in their boxes, so when the employe opened it and there werent any yellow trappers, I had the option to buy the display one, which I did. The funniest thing is I believe the tang stamp marks it as a 2014 model. This knife has been in that case for 4 years waiting to be purchased!

I asked if it was discounted since it was handled by previous customers (myself), but it wasnt, oh well lol. sure aint the sharpest knife I own (yet) , but certainly one of my favorites.

I didn't think I'd like the "plain" yellow Delrin until I handled one. Now I have two! Talk about knives sitting around in the display case -- a few months ago I found a chestnut bone CV swayback jack. Looked at the tang stamp and thought, "OK a 2019. No, wait, that can't be. Oh, a 2009!" :p

Classic Case enjoy! You can't go wrong with a CV Yellow. I've been on a kick lately buying some newer Cases too and was eyeing that very same one :) Love them all but unfortunately had to send most back for adjustment or replacement. You are lucky that you have a local shop that you can actually hold and look at the knife before purchase.

And don't stop there I think you might need at least 1-2 more :)

Id be ok communicating via PM or in another sub-forum about the details of that. I don't want to add "whine" to this one :) I'll just say the particular versions I acquired weren't of the quality I expect from a product made in the USA. Not a big deal they will make it right. And that is the chance I have to take by ordering things online sometimes that's just how it goes.

Having said that, you inspired me to pick up a yellow CV pen knife and a stockman too (found one with a clip, sheep's foot and a punch blade that I like a lot). I love the look of the yellow delrin models after some age and wear...I need to get started :)

It never ends with these things.

There was a blue bone stockman I was really debating about getting instead of my trapper. But I decided the yellow will look more fitting after a few years when its seen some use.

I've always liked the dull yellow Delrin Case uses on their different models, but I've never actually owned one. Good score, though! I really need/want to try out one of their Swayback Gents, I'm just afraid they're a bit too small.

They are a bit small but not too small. I love the design and how they feel in the hand. Here is a photo of one next to a GEC #15 for size reference.

Well I was going to say that first you could get a Tear Drop (the white bone knife) and that would make the Swayback seem larger but looks like the Tear drop is larger than the Swayback. What do I know . . . mostly these days I just carry Trappers as far as my slip joints go.
(the bottom knife is what I carried today; I just got it this week).

Congratulations on your first new Case Knife - they have been making good pocketknives for a long time. I love to carry and use a Medium Stockman and have a lot of 18 pattern knives. This 3318 HE (1980 CV blade steel) has been getting carried and used a lot lately - I had to install a replacement dishwasher in our kitchen today - the blade made quick work of the wires plastic insulation.
