Taurus calls this a tactical knife, but with a 117mm (4.6") to me it is more of a bushcraft knife. Made from D2 steel, I like the blade design, and I particularly like the leather sheath that comes with it, a Brazilian gaúchos style. The blade is hardened to 58-60 HRC, which, I understand, is perfect for D2 steel. I have looked at it on YouTube, and the bushcraft influencers are doing the usual things with such a bushcraft knife; it did the job nicely. In kitchen knife terms, it would make for a nice field version of My Wüsthof 4" German-style French Knife. I like the handle, which is G10 composite. You can find it on the Taurus website and it has a 30% discount.

It is funny, this is the second fixed blade knife I have purchased from an arms manufacturer, the other is a Glock. The Glock may be the worst-designed knife I have ever purchased. I detested the thing, especially the serrated back; I gave it to one of my nephews, who has a bunch of Glock pistols, so it found a good home. The sheath it has is an injection-molded disaster. The Austrian Army can keep it.

I quite like the glock knife! It's easy to sharpen and it will open mre's, bust banding, and is quite functional as a weapon, I took a hog down with one.

That said, it isnt winning any feather stick contests or card board cutting contests.


As a soldier who ran the bayonet course before the army discontinued it, I'd say for the purpose of what the glock knife was designed for, it is a home run.

The scalloping on the scales looks much sharper than any knife I perform chores or ‘bushcraft’ with. Looks like it would have nice grip for a ‘tactical’ application, but certainly not great for prolonged use (imho).

That is disheartening news! Our Army no longer learns how to use a bayonet?

I know with a M4 & plenty of ammo things should not get that close. Until they do!!!

I couldn’t find one either a few years ago and wound up ordering one from some European dealer.

Where is the Taurus knife made? I like the looks of it.

I’ve had the worst experiences with their guns and “customer service”. I wouldn’t get a knife from them if it was the last knife on planet Earth. Swore them off years ago will never allow a Taurus gun in my house, even from guests.

The Taurus fixed blade knife is made by fox Knives. They use the Taurus name under license.

Yes I understand. Taurus can’t make guns I sure don’t expect them to make a knife. Just another gimmicky gun branded knife. The Taylor S&W knives were actually kind of decent if you are into that.
 
Here it is, it is a very nice fixed blade knife very heavy duty and well balanced. The sheath is made out of what I call cardboard leather. Looking at the other fixed blade knives I have and the sheath for the KaBar BK-62 is a perfect replacement.

Glock made lots of knives, before ever getting into guns . Curtain rods , too ! :p

Bayonets generally aren't great knives for other purposes . The Glocks throw pretty good , at least . Their knives , I mean . 😏

Taurus has a long time ,kinda poor, rep . But , I have a TX22 works great ...once I fixed the mag feed problem . :cool:

Your Fox knife looks fine to me . But I already got way too many similar , I like better . ;)
