Just realized the Lil native backlock's scales are just 2 slabs of plastic with holes drilled for screws so I can model them and 3d print them

I remember that others needed a couple of iterations before they got their prints dialed in.
 
It's fiber reinforced nylon, probably a bit stronger and maybe stiffer. What are you printing with?
 
PLA is nowhere as strong as FRN, but should be usable for pocket knives. Cosplayers make custom "armour" pieces from them and they are tougher than people thought, depending on the setting of course.

There is also FRN filament for 3D printing, but I don't think OP is using it.

im thinking petg or abs would be more than enough. especially petg since it has a shock absorbing properties and "gummy" texture feel.
