Just received a knife my Grandpa made - Thoughts?

That knife is quite unique and very interesting to me and 440C is more than a worthy cutting steel and this I know first hand. I have several custom drop point Hunters~Skinners that are hollow ground with 440C and they have an exceptional edge holding/taking ability..

I really like the working functionality of the handle, guard and pommel here on your knife, L4NE4 and her design is quite beautiful and intriguing as well. It appears as though your Grandad had an application in mind with her. Do you know if he made that knife for himself, or perhaps someone else? The shape of the blade is very cool too. Sorta has that willow leaf look going..

I would love to see the sheath and the blade when you get her tuned up!. Thanks for sharing it here with us.

I think that your Grandad did a fantastic job on that knife, his styling is real nice, like Jeff Said, almost fighter styled, thats a very neat knife, and thanks for showing us, I agree with Jason and Don, that handle definitely looks Micarta., Everything that your Grandad put thought into worked,...it worked a treat, what I would give to own a knife like that that was made by my Grandad!

Wow, that looks great! I'd expect that kind of design and workmanship from a maker like Bark River. As said before, looks like your grandfather had some talent!

That is a really cool knife, especially since it has already been passed to the 3rd (and hopefully not last) generation! Your grandpa had good eyes and skills to shape that.

Your "It is very old, at least 30 to 40 years old." comment is a hoot!
