What an outstanding blade! It feels like a custom peice of art, great job Sal! This knife is so nice that I'm afraid to even use it.. I think I need to buy another just in case I mess this one up..

Does anybody in here actually use a Temperance 2?

Cheers!

EDIT: To you Temperance owners; which angle slots on the Sharpmaker do you use to sharpen this beauty?

Hi Outdoors,

Thanx for your kind words.

I use mine quite a bit, mostly for food prep and cutting branches when I'm out walking. It's the one that is often in my truck. It's better appreciated when used.

The design has been through the scrutiny of the forum afi's and their input, + mine went into the "2" model. It's an afi knife and doesn't do high volume I think, mostly due to the high price. We didn't cut any corners in design, materials or build quality.

Yes, you can notice how many thought was put into this excellent knife on the very first minute you hold it. The feeling, balance, the edge profile, the superb ergonomics of the micarta handles, the outstading distal tapering on the full flat grind leaf-shaped blade and its fit and finish, it screams quality and attention to details. I think it's an extremely reasonable price for what you get with this.
Make a leather holster for it (or offer as an alternative at a cost) and you'll have a perfect small knife. (it is perfect already, I just think leather fits this type of knife better than Kydex/Polymer)

You convinced me to use it, I think it will make a great general use around-the-camp knife and for food prep in the woods. But as I said, I just got it so I will keep admiring it sitting on the shelf gorgeous for a few days yet...

Cheers!

If you'll indulge my noob question. How does the T2 compare to the Bushcraft 2. Based on price, alone, I'm assuming it's a step up. But, perhaps you can fill me in on some details that separate them. Thanks!

the temperance 2 has a large leaf shaped full flat ground blade, the bushcraft has a scandi-grind bushcraft blade. they are two completely different knives.

OK... again a noob here... So, how do they function differently? How is each blade suited to particular applications? When would you use one over the other? Thanks for helping the noob get edge-u-cated!

sorry for the "offbeat" reply but i cant help saying that; i think its cool that you take the time too check out wats going on, and wats being said on these boards. it says alot about you as a person as well as your company. once i am off unemployment (im a laid off plumber) i will purchase my first spyderco
knife

I'm not an expert in blade gemoetry but the scandi grind that the bushcraft has is good for wood work. chopping, battoning, whittling. the temperance is more of a slicer.

I picked up a Temp 2 when they 1st came out.
One of the best fixed blades out there.
Period.

Also have 2 bushcraft's.

Temp 2 wins for me.
But both are great, but- not many compare to the Temp 2.

I use mine almost daily...for food prep.

And weeekly when hiking.

Best fixed blade in my inventory along with the Street Beat.

Even though people think it is expensive. It is a good deal because it is custom
quality for half the price. It is a "AFI " knife for sure.Distal taper, full flat
grind,full tang,canvis micarta scales,vg-10.

Mine to pretty to use though...:o

Say Sal,

Any chance of seeing more Temperence models? Perhaps some with smaller numbers on the price tag? That'd be awesome!

You have to bear in mind how much VG-10 this knife has, not to mention the distal tapering.. This cost alot of money. Perhaps a Temperance in 154CM would be cheaper...

We can lower the build quality?
We can lower the steel quality?
We can make an "inexpensive" Chinese copy?

I'd be down for a Chinese version of the Temperance, seems like it would fall in with the tenacious series.
