Just received my FFG Blue Delica? Hard to open?

sounds like you just need to loosen the pivot a bit. If you got it online, some dealers tighten the pivot when sending over the border.

No, it did not get any easier. It's really very frustrating. I bought the ZDP-189 model so it stings a little more.

Does your model have a pivot screw? If so just adjust it until it is where you like and put some loc tite on it, leave it overnight to set up and you're good to go. Some people like them tight, some loose which is why there is a pivot screw to set where you want it.

If it is pinned you can still loosen it up. Grab the blade by the pivot where there is lots of metal and it is strong. Then put some pressure back and forth like you were checking for horizontal blade play. This action will use the blade tang to push the liners apart and it just needs to push them out a few thousandths of an inch to loosen it up. Give it some pressure and check, repeat until it is where you want it.

Knives are pretty simple mechanical devices and not that hard to work on yourself.

no the spydie hole doe'st cut. the blade cuts when your finger slips into path of blade. in the last years i have'nt gotten a spydie cut from flicking it open, i'm 71 years & do'nt see why you youngins ca'nt do this simple opening.
I know what you mean. It seems that the size of the thumb hole in relation to your thumb will increase or decrease the chance of this happening. For example the only Spyde’s I have with a small thumb hole is my Centofante III & IV. Sometimes your thumb will slip out and get ahead of the blade. With the way Spyderco sharpens knives this can cut ya big time. Of course it’s our own fault for not opening them as designed.

I have no problems flicking any of my Spyderco’s open. That includes my Police 3. That blade is just too big to slowly thumb it open and too much fun to not mildly snap it open with the thumb. Wow, what a knife.

I’m a youngin at 47 so I guess I’m OK. Right Pop’s?

The Delica has a closing bias which I like (along with all lockbacks) To me, this is not only safer, but also feels smoother than a detent. The action isn't so much overcome detent and free-swing, but a gradual and smooth lessening of tension. This does make it harder to flick open, but it can be quickly and reliably opened one-handed without the need for any wrist action whatsoever.
