Just received my new Capachadou from Gilles @ Fontenille Pataud

Looks great. Juniper wood by any chance? I hear it's fragrant too.

Thanks, Will

Hi Will it is indeed Juniper and yes it is fragrant, i also have a couple of Thiers knives in juniper that combined with the leather smell from the slip sheaths they come in just about drives me crazy.LOL

Thanks, thought so! I've heard a lot about the Juniper fragrance, I need to get hold of a knife in it. Looks handsome too. The French do very good work on pocket slips in my experience.

Regards, Will

Congrats for a very beautiful knife you did choose with much taste : the buffalo bark scales plus the elaborate filework make for a "work of art" Capuchadou.
Mine looks quite plain but my first motivation was the saddlehorn affiliated handle. One of the best working knife handles, IMO.

Nice! looks like the walnut on my F-P Laguiole.

The Saddlehorn type handle always reminds me of some old flintlock pistol, very comfortable in the hand.

Funny you mention that ! FP's walnut is actually advertised as "gunstock walnut" ! Dense and highly figured, it's a pure pleasure. And as comfortable as a flintlock pistol, I could swear...
I have two coming from FP because Gilles Schneider is so reactive and stand up on communication I had to fall for two patterns I have long been looking for.
It will definitely provide matter for a post !
