I just got home, and this was waiting for me. A Scrap Yard Muk LE #8. I'll have to get out this week and try it out.

Yeah, Id like to see how it performs, whats the blade thickness?
Flat ground right?

I'll post pictures later this week. I just started sharpening it. This is where I need a belt sander or be Siguy's neighbor.:)

Even on a belt sander, reprofiling the edge on the Scrap Muk takes some time. That 154CM steel is hard, and it heats up fast. I got my best results using a zircon blue in 80 grit to set the new edge. Then I went to 240 grit, and then 20 micron, and a final finish with 9 micron. This steel takes and holds a wicked edge, but it's a bear to sharpen when dull.

Looks good. I have a Mud Puppy I'm real fond of. Looking forward to some more photos.

Very cool knife!

Did it not come sharp?

I'm guessing it had a thick edge. My Mud Puppy came with an edge similar to a splitting maul. Cuts beautifully with a thin convex edge but before reprofiling the edges are scary thick.

Gotcha thanks:thumbup:

I'm convexing mine by hand with 600 grit paper and then I'm moving to my strop bat from JRE (black, green, pink compound and regular leather). It is taking awhile, while I jungle other projects.

I have mine hair shaving sharp now. I took pictures, but they didn't turn out well without natural light. I don't think anyone wants to dark/blurry picture of a knife with a small pile of hair on it.:) I will bring it out tomorrow and post pictures using it.

It was 17 degrees outside this morning when I took my Muk for a walk. I stopped to carve a couple of tent stakes to try the new edge. It did a good job, but I'm going to work on it some more.
