i ordered a custom 110 a while back and it finally arrived and to my disappointment it has poor fit and finish. the tip is blunted, the grind completely uneven, and there are sanding marks or whatever where the liner meets the lockback. complete disappointment. i have already sent an email so we will see how this plays out.

My first email to warranty service was answered requesting a pic of my problem. I sent the pic.... that was last wednesday... no reply so far.. good luck.

It will be fine. They will take care of it.

i immediately boxed it back up and packaged it for return shipping. if they want to drag their feet rectifying the issue or honor their "forever" warranty i will ship it back on my own dime and file a chargeback, then ill wash my hands of buck. i know stuff happens but a "custom" order should involve some form of qc.

Damn dude, give them a chance to rectify the problem. They always have forever. Buck has crazy customer service report card.

I feel your pain. Buck's customer service people are very nice and I'm pretty sure you will be taken care of . I'm also in you boat and waiting now a couple weeks. They seem to be busy. What some people don't understand when you order a Buck knife online and you wait for it to be shipped and when you get it and it has that huge suck factor and you just can't walk in and get a exchange . It's a hassle and now a much longer waiting game! But don't worry it will be ok 👌 QC is important!

I had a similar situation with a Custom 501. I ordered it for a German guy who
has not the guts to order it in America by himself. So I did it for him. What I got
was a poorly done knife, a lot worse than a serial knife. Some other points in this
context did not amuse me too.

Last week Jeff sent me a mail that a new knife left the factory. The knife was a christmas
gift. Christmas 2015, not '16. I am really upset. I have some pictures, but I don't want to
occupy rxavage's thread. If you like to see them I can open another thread.

by all means post your pics. a year+ is unacceptable, disgraceful, and deserving of its own thread.

i know people will get defensive of buck but if flaws aren't exposed they won't be fixed.

It's not necessary to try and drag bucks name thru the mud on a public form to get resolve of your issue. Airing it out here won't get anything accomplished or any faster.

Take it up with Buck directly please. They have alays taken care of their own product very professionally.

No manufacturer is perfect. It's too bad you received a knife that requires warranty work.

You have to remember the reason why they are busy in the warranty department. They have a lifetime warranty. So knives built 20, 30, 40 years ago still come in for work. Plus all the spa service knives they do. They get multiple 5 gallon size bags of knives everyday. It is too bad knives get out the door that aren't up to snuff but seeing 6000 knives a day built, I can understand the percentage of culls.

I agree it needs to be taken up with Buck, but a knife, any knife, from the Custom Shop should be perfect. There have been stories like this for quite a while and so it has kept me from ordering a knife I would dearly love to own. I live too far away to have them ship something to me that is not perfect. I did try to order one, once, but the guy quit talking to me about my project and was kind of short with me. So, there you go.

I little story but you might get the picture. Last year I took a chance and bought a Buck/Mayo 171 online. When I received it, it didn't feel just right. I contacted Joe about it and he said send it in and we will take a look at it. I did. They took some time to look at and confirmed it was the real thing. I can't imagine how much time it took because they had a couple of guys look at it. All of that took time for just one knife that wasn't even purchased directly. It was a secondhand sale. I didn't even have to pay postage for the return shipping.
So please cut them some slack. They make thousands of knives and stand behind everyone of them.

In this situation, will Buck pay shipping to the factory for repair?

From the Buck website

Warranty FAQ's
Will Buck pay to have my product sent to their facility?
Buck will not pay for the freight costs to their facility. However, Buck will pay for all return expenses to your residence or business for warranty services.

I recently had a minor issue with a Buck knife purchased from an online Buck dealer. I was emailed a return postage label and the knife was replaced immediately. There are some advantages to going back to your retailer as opposed to direct warranty with Buck. Unfortunately, that avenue is unavailable to direct factory orders.

Well, Makael, I never would draw the Buck name through the mud. That ist not my intention.
I took the thread to write my experiences because rxafage had similar experiences. Ok, I'll keep
calm. But it is hard to unterstand that Buck knives sent out a custom knife that doesn't reach the
quality of the standard knives. I thought the custom knives have a better quality than the
production knives.

I agree. It's too bad bad examples get out the door.

Herbert, I think of the current custom shop more of "mix and match" assembly of a limited menu of standard components than actual custom work.
