Just recieved my Chaves 228. VERY surprised...

I'm probably the only person that sees this, but does anyone else see duck-billed human when they look at that clip? Like, a human-slash-duck hybrid's skull . . .

I was thinking about saying "why the long face?" but restrained myself...until now. :D

I picked up a few 228's late last year. It is definitely well-built. The tolerances (especially between the lock bar and handle) are outstanding.
But I did have some QC issues on a couple of mine that I felt shouldn't exist on such a pricey knife. So I sold a few of mine. Plus, I like more of a pointy tip on my blades.
But overall , I like the Redencion. I still have one in my collection. The "beefy" factor awesome.[/QUOTE]

I know I am late to comment here but what QC issues did you have? I also picked up a few of these as well. One had terrible action. The blade actually would stick halfway when closing due to ball bearing issues. I sent it back to Ramon and he took care of it. The other knife had sketchy mill around the Ti handle. The chamfered radius part of the handle actually had some divots (tooling marks) in it. I sent that back to the dealer for a replacement. Once I got these issues taken care of, everything was fine, but for 500 bones to spend on this knife, I was a little bummed I had to go through that.

I had very uneven finishes on the Ti handles. One side was clearly stonewashed but the other was almost a sandblasted finish. Two very different looks. This happened on two of the 228's I got.

Did you keep them, send them in to Ramon or send them back to the dealer?

That looks really nice, blade reminds me of a Hogue EX-1 and the overall thing reminds me of a CRK Sebenza... the large "jimping" cuts on the back even looks rounded off slightly, a nice touch...
No apparent lock insert and the humongous clip would probably keep me from getting one though

The one that was really noticeably off , I returned. Kept the other.
