Just started collecting

Doomed? I prefer to say enlightened. I'vve been doing this for a while, CRK, Hinderer, Spyderco, etc., and out of the blue a month or two ago, I fell down the "traditional" rabbit hole. Went from one slipjoint that I really didn't care for, to now having many...with three more inbound from England. Yes, I'm definitely sticking with enlightened ;)
 
Meh, I bet you’ll eventually see all you need to see and settle down.

I’m at the point where I don’t buy many knives anymore. The difference is that I’m much more selective and have my bases covered.

You’ll probably go through the stage where you think you have to have a knife for every chore or in every size range, knives for different occasions, backups of your favorites, etc. Trust me, you don’t.

Hopefully you’ll get to a point where you know what YOU like (NOT what gets good reviews, but what you truly like), then you can trim the dead wood and be content for a while.

Agreed. I don't have the Monet for that. Someday. Well, the car part. Too many I want. I'd have to be a quadrillionaire owning a small country to afford and store all of them. My island would have a drag strip and a road course. Garages for cars, guns, knives, car parts and wives.

I'd also need to be able to live to at least 900 years old.

Eh, it's a reasonable goal.
