Just starting to make knives... tutorials?

My great, great grandfather was the last blacksmith in west KY and I still remember being little and being around the anvil, quenching trough and tools he had. I am interested in starting making knives, hatchets, and spearheads. Someone point me in the right direction as far as what I need tool-wise and where to get it? Tutorials, DIY threads, etc would be great. I am going to start this on a budget then get the fancy items as I can.

Hi Eric - I usually suggest folks have a look at www.engnath.com

Actually, I would suggest reading everything on the site at least once. Good info for starting out I think. It might help you a lot to meet a couple makers in your area and maybe even watch them work. That was a big help for me getting started.
