Just too many great knives...

Good morning all!

I get up in the morning, go through my normal routine, and then go to pick a knife to put in my pocket, to find I'm unable to choose. I think it's a great sign that I enjoy the collection I have, but I keep finding that I have a hard time picking one knife over another each day, because they're all just so great! 'Do I go with my Ultratech, Southard (ShepardCC-customized), or Large Sebenza 21? Or one of the less-frequently carried?' The questions ring each morning. Does anyone else have this happen? How's everyone enjoying their collection, on basis of this measure?

I wish everyone a nice and safe day!

I have my rotation narrowed down to 10 knives, or was it 11, hell you can never have too many knives!

I've had this great "problem" for awhile now as well! One thing I've started doing - I've implemented "Rare Carry Fridays", where I always pick a knife that doesn't get pocket time often. Same thing with my Friday wristwatch. It adds some more fun to Fridays, along with casual Friday (jeans and optional Hawaiian shirt) and general TGIF. I got this idea from something my wife and I started years ago, called "Vinyl Sunday", where we only played vinyl at home on Sundays so as to enjoy some of our classic old records.

It is a problem for me too, and not with just expensive knives. They mostly stay home. I carry mostly traditionals, many vintage, and there are not enough days to give them all a turn.

I had that problem for a while but I've narrowed it down to what is most useful at work. Zt0566 in my pocket and a mora hd companion on my belt. Sometimes I will trade the zt for an endura but most of the time it's the zt. I use the mora all day though cutting open/down boxes. I think it's funny how my most used knife cost about $14. :)

Sounds like you're indecisive just pick one! I usually get it in my head the day before what I want to carry then I just grab it and put it in my pocket.

This is a cool idea, and one I am going to borrow/steal/plagiarize. Thanks Zuchus

I don't have that problem. I carry my used/slightly-abused Zaan every day. "Abused," as I used it for emergency service and now have to touch up a few light chips in the blade a bit. The knife was NOT intended for prying cast-iron lids off of water pipes buried one foot in the sand, so I could hurriedly turn off the main water valve (while my kitchen sink was spraying everything). Called an "error." I'm not a plumber.
I have other knives that I really enjoy...to look at...but I don't carry any of those. They are for sale/trade/gifting/enjoyment.

I don't have all that many to choose from anymore, as I've sold or given away a lot of my collection. I prefer 3"~ folders now, especially for work (khakis/slacks). Today the decision was between the Brous Bionic and the LionSteel Opera. I went with the Bionic. Will wear the Opera tomorrow.

I change what's in my pocket 3 or 4 times a day. Depending on where I'm going, what I'm doing or what I'm wearing.

Thats actually a great idea, I think I'll shamelessly copy that :D

My collection is more outdoors oriented and I have one that always goes with me.
My daily collection isn't as impressive but I generally I use my SOCOM delta. But occasionally I'll randomly grab whatever is laying on my desk.

That is a really great idea. I may have to implement something similar!

Awesome image! I would probably do the same, if I could manage to find time to swap them out. When I'm around home, I change them out a few times in a day.

I have other knives that I really enjoy...to look at... such as Spydie Sage series models, Aries 2, large Sebenza, Millie, Gayle Bradley Air, TUFF, PM2's, Caly 3.5 in SB...and others, but I don't carry any of those. They are for sale/trade/gifting/enjoyment.

Although not the intended use, and technically being abuse, I think it speaks to the quality and durability of the knife. Those things add immense character; for such, I'm rarely hesitant to use the knives I know I'll always keep as well as they can handle.

I can usually do that! It's just those times when I think "it would be really great to carry X today" while any of them would serve equally well. The good, and in this case bad, thing is that I can carry just about anything I want given my uses, so I get to just carry my favorite(s), which have been growing in number. I only foresee the problem getting worse :D
