Well last night i went to pick up the new merrell hiking shoes. Last week my old shoes just wore out. I wanted to Moab but not the waterproofed that seemed that everyone carried. I called REI they had a few pairs in stock now. From listening to you guys i dicided to pick up the 10.5 sized shoes. I tried them at the store and they felt good. Got home and guess what my feet hurt after less then 5min. Couldnt belive how diffrent they felt at the store. Pissed i dicided to go right back and get my money back. Puting them in the box i found that by mistake i grabed the size 10 shoe:rolleyes: . Well i got to the store. There was a girl at the shoe dep and i asked her about the shoes and told her i want her opinion. Asking me a few Q she told me to try out the size 11. Trying them on i tell they feel loos and im afraid to get blisters. She seemed to know what she is talking about so who am i to argue. Today i went on a 12-13 mile hike with about 3,800ft gain and loss. Those shoes are the best shoes i had.The funny thing in about an hour of hiking in the heat my feet seem to grow and fill the shoe. At the end of the day no blisters no sore spots no hurt toes. Just sore feet from long hike on loose rocks. Love those shoes. I just wanted to thank you for your advice. Also beeing lucky enought to find a sales woman that knew her stuff and asked me the right Q..

Sasha,

I picked up a pair of the Moab Mid Hikers recently.

I ordered some Vasque trail shoes earlier and they are OK, but to me they felt cheap. OK for around the house but the soles almost felt too thin for the rocky trail.

So I agree with you on the Moab ones. Very comfortable, more flexible than the Vasque ones, Less than 2 lbs a pair but the soles feel very thick and good for rocky terrain.

Only hard hiking will tell but they seem great. I was really impressed with my other Merrils. Stretch Chameleons.

REI and A16 are pushing the Vasque shoes with as much as 25% discount. I tried them and just didnt feel right. It also seems that many on here dont like them anymore. For a person that has very flat feet. I found that at the end of the hike my feet didnt hurt as much. You know how it feels at the end of a long hike when it feels soo good to take the shoes of your feet. Well it didnt feel like that. I think the big reason for that was that i used to wear shoes that are half to one size smaller then they should have been. That alone might have made a HUGE diffrence at the end of the day... But i do love the merrells.
