"Lost" in the Everglades, Bear was toting a Buck Zipper, the gut-hooked version of the Vanguard...

Nothing too wacky tonight, I thought, except for when he jumped into a sinkhole to demonstrate how to get out of one. He ate a small frog whole, which was... Different.

I'll keep watching this season, just like I slow down for traffic accidents. *sigh*

I caught it,as well. Not a bad episode. Nothing he did made me scream at the TV- my wife says that this is a good sign for Bear...

was hoping if anyone can upload the new season- some things he does is fairly interesting but others either make me laugh or cry or even both. Someone already uploaded the whole first seaon on youtube- so...

I liked it although I thought he overplayed the alligator paranoia a bit...but thats just me

I liked watching him cook the turtle by just throwing it on the fire. Stewed inside its own little pressure cooker.

Tomorrow Discovery channel is running the entire last season in a marathon starting at 8am central time, 12 hours straight.

I've seen him and Les Stroud both cook animals with their entrails still inside them, seems like that would be unsafe?????

:thumbdn: What's the deal with the gut hook??? Why on earth would he take a gut hook knowingly into a survival situation? Other than what they're specifically made for, they suck. And, I don't see him field dressing a whole lotta big game on that show. He probably forgot his knife and had to borrow one from his camera crew.:D

Bear is a complete tool, but he is making money hand over fist. I don't think he knows the first thing about woodscraft, he came up with an idea for a show and sold it to the discovery channel. He is just an actor, nothing more nothing less. Chris

Chris I agree I think most of his information is not his own but is taken from expert advisers, I think he's just the face of a much larger operation. I think much of what he does is overdramatized, However from an entertainment perspective I enjoy the show immensely and as an athlete I can respect his physical ability...However I think swimming whitewater or climbing waterfalls or out of quicksand when you don't have to is never a hot idea.

Yeah, I didn't understand why he used the Vanguard with the gut hook, didn't make a whole of sense.

I wrote him an email and told him an idea I had for a shirt.
on the front:
DOES BEAR GRYLLS SHIT IN THE WOODS?
Back : Watch Man vs. Wild!

They wrote back that they would take it under advisement

Its just a tv show, so I don't get too worked up when Bear pretends to be stuck in "quicksand" and so forth. Good entertainment IMO.

Good entertainment? As in comedy, right?

He's an idiot, little better than the late, great Steve Irwin. Chris

I'd still rather watch Bear over one of the 15 CSIs or a reality show that has nothing to do with reality.

Same goes for Survivorman, I treat it as entertainment, not education and it beats the majority of other tv.

Yeah and his knife sells for like $700. I was like WTF it looks nice but not that nice.

I like MVW, he does some outlandish stuff, but overall I think he has a good idea of what he's doing. Afterall, if I only learn one thing an episode, its one more thing then I knew
