My favorite EDC cost much less than $50, a Victorinox Alox Cadet. Most of my other frequently carried knives are also in the sub-50 range. Of the knives I own that did cost in the $50 to $100 range, I guess my most often carried is the Great Eastern Cutlery Powderhorn Jack. If you are talking about modern style folders, then it would be my Spyderco Delica, though I almost never actually carry it, preferring traditional slipjoints most of the time.
My current favorites are : a ColdSteel Lucky in the left pocket, a Böker Howser Memory in my right pocket and an EKT Companion as a necker. I feel so well knifed with this outfit that I often forget to add a bigger fixed blade on my belt...
I don't own that many knives in that price range but I'm really liking my Cold Steel Ti-Lite folder. I carried a Benchmade Panther for a long time in the '90's--early 2000's, that I still have.
For a fixed blade it's still my trusty Tekna Ocean Edge (about $39.95 back in the late '70's) with its amazingly adaptable sheath, although in the last year I picked up a Gryphon M-10 which I really like and is now my Number 2.
Cold Steel Mini Recon 1 - lightweight (3 oz), small but still 4 finger grip, extremely solid lockup, grippy g10 handles, nice steel (cts-xhp), available in three blade shapes, dlc coating
Spyderco Endura. Usually the Super Blue but the VG 10 and ZDP are nice too. I'm looking forward to the HAP 40 HSS model coming soon. I have carried an Endura since 92.
Yeah I also have been wanting the unlimited hunter, but my favorite med edc would probably be the cold steel 4 tanto point with cts xhp carpenter steel running around a 80$ street price.
I would have bought another after I lost mine, but in the 7 years I carried it, they changed the design a bit. Still a great knife, and I recommended it to a friend, and he's been carrying one for 3 years.
you can find the original fully serrated spyderco police 1 for just under $100, one of my all time favorites. plain edge is also available for those who prefer it.
i also love my spyderco matriarch, also available for under $100.
