I find the ESEE-4 to be the perfect general purpose fixed blade, especially at the price. Everyone should try it out.

I don't know about in general over all but if you mean while outdoors and camping, I would agree with that quite a bit. Even ESEE says if you could only ever buy one of their knives the 4 would be the way to go.
