Selling or trading they ones you wound up not liking is a smart move.
Not every knife has to be a user, but I think the expensive ones should be. (Just my feeling) .
Think carefully about how many users you want to end up with. Think how you are improving your collection with each purchase. Don't be afraid to trade for something you want for one you thought would be a user but isn't.
You could also take up a hobby that would USE your knives more: camping, hunting, whittling, fishing.
In my collection, I like to have a variety of knives and multi-tools. With multi tools, it's easier to justify different ones, since they're are so many different tool loads.
