Right now I don't have many. I have an NMFBM, a CG ASH-1, an NMSFNO and I ordered the Boss street. I also owned an FFBM and an FSH which are both gone. Now I think I want one of them back, but i'm not sure which. The FFBM I used quite a bit, but the FSH, I only handled and then sold it. I felt it probably wouldn't do anything my FFBM couldn't do so I opted for an NMFBM.

Well as you know, these knives are addictive, so now i'm wanting another one. I really don't have any interest in the bushwacker at all so I'm stuck between either the FSH or another FBM.

What do you guys think? FFBM? FSH? Which Model? CGFBM? Sarsquatch? How does the FSH chop compared to say, a CGFBM?

That's the thing, I don't know which one I want. When I'm out I carry two knives + a folder. The large knives only goal is chopping/batoning, I use a smaller, thinner knife for everything else. I'm looking for what would best replace my NMFBM on camping/hikes that i'm not going to be gone as long. Not looking to do anything delicate with it. Should I just buy another battle mistress?

You should try and get ahold of a Heavy Heart (HHFSH) Sabre ground with Fusion handle... Great piece of equipment!!

Do any FSH's come with hand shaped micarta? I'm absolutely loving the hand shaped mags on my NMFBM and considering sending in all my knives to get switched out.

Go for a Heavy Heart with Mags. You can always hand shape the Micarta if your heart desires.

I honestly think you should try the BWBM. Many people underestimate the chopping ability of a thin knife like that, until they use it.

If you want maximum weight for chopping, I'll echo the Heavy Heart recommendation - and there are some nice smooth bolts out there to be snagged

Or you could go with the full flat ground versions that have made their way to various shows recently. The full flat might bite deeper on the chops but not have as much weight behind the swing.

I was very sad when I had to send that smooth bolt back to Ohio :( What a blade!!!

You could always just do it yourself with some sand paper. I have an FFBM that has home done hand shaped scales on it and it is AWESOME!! (Dunner rocks) Don't breath the dust though.

It was sent to me by mistake - I was supposed to get an SJTAC and opened up the box to find an FSH. Trust me, I was tempted to keep my mouth shut and keep it, but I wouldn't have been able to resist the urge to post pictures :D

Three of my FSHs are arctic white with hand-shaped black G10 handles -- they were from Page 13 of the 2008 VetDayGanzaaa. I sometimes regret not buying a 3B2 ASH, but I don't think I'd like it as well as those FSH (my other FSH is that Bama Clay).

I concur with MM on the BWM -- you should consider it, especially at the release price. My only real complaint about it was the limited color options.

Get the FSH, just the standard one. Its my favorite knife although I have not put it up against a BM, I have put it against a Dog Father and it held its own. I just got my BWBM but it will be a couple months before I can do a side-by-side against the FSH. I'd take the FSH against the NMSFNO any day just due to the handle.

My thoughts on the FSH is that is one of the most useful of survival blades. It is in that size catagory where you can carry it fairly easily, yet it is a chopping monster for its size... I figure Jerry like it since it's on their blades :-)

I absolutely agree. I have a Variant FSH with hand shaped Micarta....

and it is considerably more comfortable than the standard shaped grips on my other FSH....

I might send them both in...I want the Variant changed to black linen hand shaped and also bead blasting to a D/C finish and the other one just needs the same grips.

I'm contemplating an expensive handle mod for my FSH, but knowing that it's coated, I hate to put a lot of money into a handle mod for a coated blade.

I'm the exact opposite - I love the NMSFNO handle and am not a fan of the Fusion handles.

I think they are both comfortable if the grips are the right ones....the smooth hand shaped grips on the Fusion Handles go a long way to eliminate problems...my NMSFNO grips were smoothed down by me and are very comfortable but when chopping hard and fatigued I think there is a slight safety advantage in the Fusion Grip if the knife slips in hand...the pommel curve can just catch your fingers...aside from that they are pretty much both comfortable for me once the grips are smooth....

These knives will outlast us....I don't see any problem on spending small amounts of money for comfortable grips...especially if the knife is then a joy to use...
