I am almost sure that I read somewhere that Jerry said JWB was 250.00 a bottle. I just went out and got a fifth of it, 750ml for 34.00. Did I get the right stuff?
They also had green and gold. The gold was 89.99 and was a liter aprox sized bottle.

I think you got a deal! $34 for a fifth/150ML JWB may I ask where you bought it? I tried JWGreen it was O.K. but haven't try JWblue or gold.
 
I got it at ABC liquor. Jacksonville FL. I've seen it everywhere around here but thought it was just the wrong stuff, so I asked the store employee for it and he pointed to the scotch section and his eyes lit up. I expected it to be locked up but it wasn't. They didn't have the blue. Maybe I should have got the gold. anyway what is the best way for one to serve/consume some of this stuff? I'm not much of a scotch drinker. It was 30.00 a bottle by the case.
 
Very good! just had a shot, and it is smooth stuff. The smoothest scotch I've ever had:thumbup:
 
There are different grades at different price points. I may be wrong but I believe the order from cheapest to most expensive is:

1-Red
2-Black
3-Green
4-Gold
5-Blue

Pour some into a tumbler, sip. Add a touch of water if you want. A bit of water mellows it a bit and allows for some of the more subtle flavours to come out. Do not add ice. Try drinking some in a red wine glass. The narrowing at the top concentrates the aromas. Enjoy, and enjoy some more.

The Red is 8 yr old, Black 12, Green 15, Gold 18.

Blue is their creme-de-la-creme.
 
Dang I should have got the gold. I'm going to go on a search, probably by phone since I live in the largest city in the U.S.A. and see if I can find someone from around here who has the Blue. I have been shooting them. I had four shots out of the almighty Busse shot glasses. Going to pour a nice glass of it after my dinner.:thumbup: And maybe a couple more shots before.:D
 
JW Blue is very, very good.

I'm a single malt guy, but even I keep a bottle of Blue around the house!

Try it, you'll like it.:D
 
JWB for 34 bucks? I thought you were talking Blue. Black is ok, but I never go below Green and Gold. They are excellent. Blue is just slightly smoother.
 
O.K. I am finding and buying some blue tomorrow. Sounds great, when It's empty It will reside on my desk at work. Or maybe I will slowly deplete it at work.:D
 
Yeah sounds like you got the Black. The Blue retails for about $250.00 in most liquor stores.
 
There is one step higher these days. The Master distiller brought together a mix for their anniversary and it is some seriously expensive stuff. Only Jerry and Skunk could afford this stuff. I think a bottle sold at auction for over $10,000! :eek: It is something like $400 a shot. Do some searching, you'll find the info. It brings together some scotch whiskies that have been out of production for over 60 or more years. JW must have a warehouse of seriously old scotch, stuff from distilleries who have been out of business for half a century and stuff.

You think that is smooth, get your hands on some Pig's Nose. The best past is that it is like $26 a bottle. :D Don't let the price fool you. I have a bottle in the pantry right next to a couple of cases of CBL. :D I figure one of these days Jerry might drop by while driving through IL and I will have to have something for him to drink. :)
 
A couple of things I find odd.

The gold label is slightly more expensive than the green. But the gold is more common, you can find it more easily than the green.

Another, why isn't there any age listed on the Blue? It should be the age of the youngest whiskey added to the blend, right??

Blue is $160 around here.
 
Go read their site......all will be revealed....

And yup, Pig's Nose is some smooooove stuff...
