JYD II Clip

I've got a JYD II and like the knife and have been carrying it. The clip has begun to bother me. The shape of the clip crimps the top pocket area I have it on and it seems to hit everything I get near. I wonder if a clip is made that could replace the original with no alteration to the knife? I'm looking for something a little smoother in shape. Something like a blur or leek clip. Would another clip from a Kershaw knife fit with no alterations to the JYD II? Any ideas?

Go buy a dremel tool. It will become your best friend. :D:D I did mine and its 10x better. Just go SLOW. You could also just use a hand file but thats boring. :D Good luck. BTW STR could make you a new clip but IIRC it would be about 30 to 40 dollars but they are GREAT.

Here's what I did to both my JYDI & JYDII. You can also grind down the upswept portion as well. I'd try this type of mod first to see if it works for you, before trying something else.

Heck if you're interested, I'll mail you one. If you like it, keep it, and send me yours. If you don't like it, send it back. Let me know. Good luck!

The generosity of the people on this forum (and especially this sub-forum) never ceases to amaze me.

Dekz,
Your dead on with that! I appreciate all the help I can get and this is above and beyond!! Thanks everyone!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is the best group of guys
you'll ever run across. They'll bend over backwards to help someone
out that really needs it.

From the advise, help, humor and knife give-aways....(not just the ones
Thomas does, but the regulars guys as well) they're top notch folks.

That reminds me...we could have another winner here Friday night if the Falcons can beat Tennessee! :D

Elarski,
I got the clip today. I'll swop it out with the original and give it a try tonight. It looks very good and might be just what the doctor ordered!

Also: Atlanta 17-Tennessee 3!!!!

Wow! I'm stunned! I dropped your clip in the mail after hours on Wednesday, that means it made it from CA to FL in two days. I need to start using First Class for all my Ebay & Gunbroker stuff, instead of paying extra for Priority Mail.

Anyway, I'm glad it made it to you in good order. Give it a go, and let us know how it works for you.

Hey bud,
This clip you fabricated is the shedizzle!! It is perfect. It makes my favorite knife even better! I'll get my original clip in the mail to you tomorrow. Thanks~

glocktenman: I'm glad you like the clip, and that it made your favorite knife better!
I'll let you know when the other clip arrives.

OregonEdge: Thanks for the compliment. Tim has a great design with the JYD line, but like cars, guns, houses, etal., we sometimes have to modify things to better suit our needs, or tastes. The JYD Clips just didn't work for me as designed. With the exception of electronics, there are few things I own that haven't been tweaked a little here or there. It really drives my Wife nuts sometimes. You should see her face when she catches me dismantling a newly acquired rifle, so my gunsmith can work on it. She looks at me like I come from another planet; it's classic!

I just got a STR Lowrider Clip today and it is amazing. Rides very low in the pocket and is not as obvious as the stock JYD clip. Thanks STR

This one is not an STR. This is one Elarski fabricated. Can you post a pic of the STR?

glocktenman: Thanks, I did get the clip in the mail. I travel with work, and we've been busy getting ready to move,so not much internet lately.

STR definitely does some cool work.
