so my kiln can fit like a 11 inch knife total inside of it, currently working on building a forge though, so i was wonder if attaching a thermocouple to a stand and placing the blade on the part that reads temp would work. either that or is there some way to build a bigger kiln for under 400? if possible with a pid control? (would love a salt bath but do not have the proper shop set up for that just yet...sooon)

For a around $100 you can buy a pid and SSRs from http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1 for $20 you can buy 50' of 14 gauge Kantal A1 to make the elements, http://kruegerpottery.com/repair-parts/kantal-wire/kanthal-a-1-wire-14-gauge.html so that leaves well over $260 for bricks, Kaowool, and some light steel to built a case and a door. Can you weld and read a simple wiring diagram? Do you have a good 20 amp 220v circuit?

You could also stick your thermocouple in a forge, but would do it in a sheath for longer life. http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=20_3&products_id=40

Awesome! Thanks! And idk if I've got and 220 slots WA sitting to get a proper shop space before building the kiln
