Hello everyone! If I had to make myself a hunting knife, other than the 10V knife with orange g10 I use, this would be the one. I like the blaze orange g10, but there is nothing like the feal of micarta. As many of you know, K390 is very similar to 10V. Both have exceptional abrasive wear due to the high volume (~17%) of vanadium carbide. K390 is slightly tougher in the lower hardness range, but approaching 63-64HRC, they are pretty equal. 10V is my favorite steel to use in a hunting knife, and K390 would be its twin. (note that K390 is a high alloy tool steel and is NOT stainless) But while it's fun for us, well some of us, to nerd out on knife steel, the fact of the matter is steel is a distant third in the equation. Geometry is king, and heat treatment is queen. The steel is the court jester! The blade features a full flat grind that is very thin at the edge. It was taken to "zero", and then backed off just enough to reflect a direct light. The knife also features a hand rubbed finish, not an easy thing to do with K390. The heat treatment was done in house, and included a "cryo" bath after the forced air/plate quench to reduce retained austenite, and then given triple tempers for a final hardness of 65HRC. The handle feels great, nothing fancy. Black canvas micarta with red g10 liners and stainless steel pins. The edge was sharpened with a 120 grit SiC stone, and then diamond plates, 320-600-1200 mesh. Stropped on 4 micron CBN leather, but that took the bite out of the edge, more than I wanted. So a few alternating edge leading strokes back on the 1200 mesh plate, and..........whoah. Watch out doing the 3 finger test. Goodness. This thing is a cutting machine, ain't no doubt about it! It comes with a 3 position selector switch...safe, semi, and full auto! Picatinny rails for accessories available upon request! (note.....batteries not included).

OAL: 8 7/8"
Blade: 4 1/8"
Handle: 4 3/4"
Thickness: 0.115" taper to tip
Steel: Bohler K390 65HRC with cryo
Handle: Black canvas micarta, red g10 liners, ss pins
Edge: 14° per side, refined with BITE!!! Ouch.
Price: sold (includes kydex sheath)

Paypall preferred (samuraistuart@yahoo.com). All knives come with free shipping in the USA as well as a lifetime unconditional warranty. Something goes wrong, the knife gets repaired or replaced. I ask that the buyer be aware that most all of my knives are cutting tools and are made only for their intended use. I like to make thin, hard knives that excel at cutting and not necessarily able to take abuse. If you have any questions, feel free to DM me here or contact me by email (samuraistuart@yahoo.com). Thanks for taking a look, and follow me on Instagram at stuartalandavenport.

Thank you all very much! Knife is sold to Sherbert4537.

I see that 10V and K390 are super hot steels, and for good reason. That class is my favorite. I will be making a lot more of this type in those steels in the future.

If anyone would like to place an order for a Verde Ranch Hunter in your choice of steel and handle material, I am willing to take a few orders.

Next one is in AEB-L at 63HRC. It is on the bench currently. Heat treat is done. While no where near the wear resistance of 10V/K390, the toughness and "apex stability" is just awesome, WAY better than the PM vanadium steels. And AEB-L is no slouch in wear resistance. It has quite a bit more WR than any low alloy carbon steel. I absolutely love AEB-L for ANY application.

Again, thank you all for the interest and the comments.
