my ONLY problem with the knife is that it always ended up jammed horizontal in a pocket bottom.
unlike friends, my pockets and wallet refused to hold it vertical in back, and no matter how perfect a back pocket flat wonder it is, horizontal another matter entire.
neither did i want a jangly metal clip on a shackle or lanyard...what i wanted was a pocket clip.
it has arrived. it is terrible. it takes some tweaking. but, it is there. mecator perfection with a pocket clip.
and the clip blocks any possibility of bail rotating under knife tip when closing.

I wanted to point out that in this day of lax trade laws, outsourcing, lasing rather than stamping, and anybody's guess if "Made In USA" (more than 50% USA components assembled in USA), or "Solingen Germany", means anything, ....
the Mercator is made in-house, on very old stamping and pressing machines, tangs and nicks deeply stamped, and for $25 without a clip, you get one of the last of the breed, a TRUE "Solingen Germany" knife, from bail to pins. EXCELLENT flat ground, distal taper, multipurpose blade, whether as paring or defensive knife.
Did i mention flat?

Since someone new to them has already asked as to steels, I can fill in a bit more on the carbon steel, and apologies as to the ignored stainless, as it will be of equal quality.
The carbon steel.is C75, which is NOT like 1075 as USA 10-series are dirty and sloppy spec steels. C75 is a .70-.80% very clean, fine grained, manganese silicon spring steel, taken to common sense hardness of 56 Rc. It will take and do most anything you can throw at such a knife.
