Im making a blade half inch thick out of k600 and would like to know if anyone had info on heat treating.

My guy also stress relieves this steel prior to heat treatment (I have three Knives in k600 steel). I think he makes what they recommend in the steel brochure.

Good gravy! Half inch!!? Oh, you have got to post pictures of that when you are finished.

I remember starting in knifemaking, and having the “thicker is better” mentality. But as I’ve grown in the discipline, I’ve actually gone completely in the opposite direction. I have found “thin” stock to be the better choice.

Unless it is a shear for a paper mill or a bull dozier blade, .5" is twice the thickness of any possible bladed tool I can imagine.

Can you elaborate on the blade shape/style/use/etc?
