Ka-Bar/Becker BK7 or RAT RC6?

Both are great knives for sure. The test is to handle both. I find that the Becker grips just fit my hand better. My BK9 is a bigger knife but feels very usable for most tasks because of the balance and grip.

I have an esee 3 and a bk16 both companys are top notch and will stand behind there products. For a large knife I personally dont care for a clip point so for me it would be the esee 6. Not to mention you get nice handle scales and a really nice sheath. If you have the money id say esee 6 just due to all the little add ons it has. If you want to make the knife truely your own go with the bk7 cause beckers just love to be customized by there owners

I agree with you, Patrick. The purpose of a clip point is to make it easier for the user to do fine, detailed work. Why would I want to do fine, detailed work with a 6 - 7 inch knife? I will carry a 3 - 4 inch knife with a clip point for that kind of work. That said, I am still going with the BK 7. I would rather own the ESEE, but as a knife knut on a tight budget, I prefer to PAY for the Becker. I am confident that the Becker will do anything that I am likely to ask of a big knife, and do it well enough that I will not experience any significant, practical difference during use. For those who have different plans for their cutlery, this might not hold true, and the additional cost of the ESEE might be justified. It is not for me.

I have had both. I prefer the Becker. I am a huge ESEE fan and have 8 or 9 of them. However, at that specific size, Becker really nails it. For me, the choil on the ESEE-6 is just too big...in fact I would prefer none. So in this one category/size, I give becker the nod. In all other categories, I'd pick ESEE. That's how good the BK7 is I think. The sheath is terrible and the handle scales are a little slippery. I upgraded the scales to micarta and made a new sheath. ESEE has fantastic sheaths, most Kydex.
