I want to hear everything you have to say about the ka-bar bk16. I am considering buying one and I want your thoughts.

Thank's in advance.

My favorite knife! It is the perfect size for me (I don't have particularly large hands). It's tough and sturdy. I've never had any problems batoning with it as long as some common sense is used. It holds an edge well and sharpens pretty easily (I'm not great at sharpening, but this knife isn't difficult). It performs well at finer tasks too. Never had any trouble with rust or chipping. The sheath is functional, but nothing spectacular. Some people complain about the handle texture. It's never bothered me though. Great blade for the price.

I really want one. The overall size of the knife, in addition to the flat ground drop point, seems like a really versatile design.

Nuff said (try it, you'll love it)

Really is a very good all around knife. That is what Ethan wanted for about 50 years when he designed it.
You could spend a lot more and get a lot less.

Pulled the trigger on one tonight, I'll get back with ya Tuesday :D

Seriously, the only reason I haven't purchased before now is due to funds, I wanted the 9 first because its more expensive and it was a present(free, kinda). Next i went with the 14, i caught it on sale. Then a bunch of others went on sale so it got pushed down the list. I'm finally at the point to buy it. Over all it was 3rd on my list after the 2 and the 9. So, looking sort of from your perspective as I was in the same boat very recently, my opinion is this: if your new to Beckers an want a "go to", carry around be it on your hip or in your vehicle, basically always have it close by this would be a perfect size. Not too much knife, not too little. Everyone who has one raves about it even if its not their favorite overall and it seems to be a good mix of all the best features Beckers have to offer in a decent medium size package. Can't wait to try it out and I have a feeling it will quickly become my go to blade.

Fabulous knife. The BK4 Machax is my all around favorite, but the BK16 is my favorite of any knife smaller than the BK4. Also Ethan himself holds the knife in very high regard, when a designer picks a favorite from among his designs, that says something.

You may be my favorite Beckerhead. :p :D

I had the 2 first and it opened a new world for me, so when I started the list in my head, your damn right I wanted the 9 first! Quite unfortunate for the Ka-Bar Kuk, I hasnt seen the light of day since. In fact I have 2 and ones missing and I haven't even looked for it. I just hope it's not in the yard somewhere rusting.

My BK16 thought is that I want a saber ground one.

I know the full-flat grind is supposed to perform better, but saber grind = pretty.

Shit, didnt know politics were involved. Shoulda lied and deny deny deny.

The OP is considering the 16 and I wouldn't try to push the 9, could even turn a person off if its not what they're looking for even though I could convince them otherwise.

The flat ground is definitely a better cutter. It is just simple geometry.

Hey hey hey hey, wait now, what about me? :D I picked out the 9 for my Christmas list before I even knew bladeforums or the Beckerheads existed. :p

One of your coyotes was lacking a 9. Now, show us your 16.
