KA-BAR Confirms BK2 to be moving to cordura sheath!

Nice the current sheath is too tight for me. I need the newer version for my 9 anyway. Looks like I'll be picking up both now.

Exactly. I love the styling, but apparently the sheath wears the edge..?

Yeah it's made out of nylon reinforced with fiberglass. If you're not careful about drawing and inserting the knife and accidentally drag the edge on the sheath it dulls it fast.

Three things I'm wondering about:
1) What color is this going to come in? Is it going to be black like the one Ethan had at Shot (too 'tactical' for me), or will it be a nice tan like that of the BK16?
2) When is it coming out?
3) Should I get BK2 now and eventually upgrade to a SpecOps sheath, or to wait for the new Becker sheath?

Thanks for the info!
Do you know if it will have molle backing, or will it be flat backed like the BK9 sheath?

Why though? I still don't know why everybody wants condura over the molded.. Other than the apparent dulling feature..

Maybe because they view it as more versatile? Not sure exactly, just a guess.

I could see that in a way.. But I also pocket carry my BK2 and did use to pocket tote a Buck 110. Many of people find that outrageous. haha! I took the belt loop and mount off and just threw it in my pocket. I guess people like change.. I don't. LOL.. Obama pun intended...

You could always stop in the Ka-Bar subforum and ask Tooj in his thread.

It's not the FRN that I dislike about the old sheath. In fact, I like the 'positive click' retention, and that it can be submerged and just slough of the water. The belt loop sucks though, and it doesn't have a pouch.. I'd like to carry a small stone and a ferro rod, or occasionally a small multitool with the BK2.
If there were a sheath with all of these features I'd be very happy.

I just might have to, man.

Those are some valid points. That answers my question I have been fumbling around to find answers for!

They are out there. Plus, the ESEE pouch will fit the BK2 IMP sheath as it sits now.

Folks wanted Nylon sheaths, Kabar listens. I think it will give more options for the user right out of the gate, without having to buy upgrades.

The new sheaths are pretty solid.

Obviously the new from factory BK2's will have the new sheath, but I wonder if Kabar will sell the sheath by itself if some current BK2 owners will be able to upgrade?

Although.......a new sheath might be a reason (Like I really need one) to buy another Bk2, LOL

Yesh. Call them and get one. Kabar is into selling stuff, if they got it, they sell it.

Anyone have a pic of this new BK2 cordura sheath? I personally like the current kydex model (the belt loops sux on it though/needs altering), but I'm open to seeing this new one.
