I recently purchased a KA-BAR/ESEE, the ESKABAR and it came with the sheath that everyone loves to hate. Mm-hm, the glass infused one. Well, after some thinking about how bad it could be to have such a sheath while I am out camping etc., without a sharpening stone, I decided to email Beth Scott at KA-Bar.

The email entailed a description of the problematic sheath and that I heard a new sheath was made to remedy the issue.

Beth Scott emailed back promptly the following Monday (emailed on Friday) explaining that in fact, a new sheath was designed with a lower percentage of glass infused within the plastic sheath (from 8% to 4%). Furthermore, offering to send this sheath within 7-10 business days to my residence. Needless to say, I took her up on the offer.

This outstanding example of customer service and dedication to the wants and needs of their customers inspired me to write this review on the company KA-Bar (I usually never ever write reviews, good or bad, on my experiences mainly because of my laziness). I will definitely be purchasing more knives from them in the future and referring friends and family to them as well.

Two thumbs up for KA-Bar!

Good to hear. I've been wanting an eskabar for a while but the sheath issue has been putting me off. Let us know how the new sheath works out for you when you get it.

Still dulls the blade. I've given up on this knife. Keeping it around for sharpening practice since it gets dull so fast.

I have two BK2s one of the sheaths dulls the knife the other doesn't, not sure why but I have heard the sheath may break in after a while. You could always get an aftermarket sheath for it. SPEC OPs Brand makes some nice ones. I have a leather sheath for a condor that fits the BK2. Other people have modded them by removing fasteners so it is a loose fit but I would be concerned with it coming out.
