I've seen photos of one of these in use, but now I can't find the threads. I know it'll be fine for general cutting, whittling and food prep. Has anyone used one for harder stuff, like batoning or chopping? Okay, it's probably a little light for chopping, but will it hold up? I can bring a Trailhawk for the heavier work if I have to. The Ka-Bar is attractive because it's inexpensive for a D2 blade, right around $70, and I like the design.

Thanks, DutchV

They hold up just fine bro but the swedge on top makes a mess of the batton !!!
People think of D2 as brittle but I dropped mine down about 6' of rocks and it escaped without any chips so they are tough blades !
Here is mine....

Pitdog - I thought it was your knife I had seen before. Thanks for responding. I guess all I need to do now is slim the handle down a bit, and start chopping. I'm glad to hear that the false edge doesn't affect the strength.
