Hey, folks. I'm looking to buy another knife on the exchange right now, so I'm looking for a quick sale of a few knives. No trades at this time.

Ka-Bar Dog's Head Stockman with Reclaimed American Chestnut covers
3 7/8" Closed
440C Blades
This was the first $100 knife I ever bought, but I've only carried it half a dozen times. A couple bolster swirls/spots, never sharpened or stropped, never used to cut anything. $80 shipped in ConUS.

  • Are the bolsters copper on the kabar?
  • How sharp are the blades and do the grinds look to be pretty decent for use?

One I had a few years ago was a bit thick behind the edge on the main blade but I thought I heard that queen made that one so some are good and some aren't.

The bolsters are nickle silver.

BTE measurements
Clip 0.022"
Sheepsfoot 0.015"
Pen 0.017"

The factory grinds are consistent. I haven't cut anything with it, but all blades bite into my fingernail. I believe you're right in that Queen manufactured these for Ka-Bar.

Bikerector asked me about how the springs sit with the blades open, so I thought I would include my response here for anyone else who may be wondering.

"I did my best to show how the springs sit when the blades are open. First pic is with the Clip and Sheepsfoot open, second pic is the Pen open. All three blades were fully opened when taking the pictures.

Please excuse the stray dog hair in the pictures. Haha."

I probably shouldn’t butt in without being positive, but I think the kabar was made by Canal Street.

That seems to ring a bell with me, Mike. Thanks for the correction!

I believe what I read was the older kabars were Canal Street and then Queen after Canal Street went under. Fairly certain it's one of the two. Both can make great knives, queen you just have to be a little more picky with, but when they were good they were pretty darn nice.
