Anyone know if old Ka-Bar knives have any collector value?

I have one that is over 40yrs old. It isn't the military style. The blade is 3.5" long and the knife is 7" overall. It has a simple straight hunting blade with a leather spacer handle with an aluminium pommel.

Before I pass this knife to my 10y/o son like it was given to me by my dad, I thought I'd check if I should put it away and give it to him later as a collector's knife.

It has no other marking but KA-BAR.

Thanks,

Carl

Yeah, that was my first post here. And, I have no idea how to post a pic. I do have a dig camera. I just don't know how it works on this site. Do I need to send it to a web-addy or can it be uploaded directly to the site?

Carl,
you can put in on web space and link to it. You can also email it to me. I will upload it for you. Unfortunatley, Kabar knives rarely hold any value as they are too common. I received my Grandfathers WW2 fighting knife around 10 or 11. 20 years later and I still have it. I use it sometimes too. I am thinking of having a sheath made and making it my camp knife. BTW, welcome to Bladeforums!

Hi,

If it were my knife I'd let the boy have it, he'd probably enjoy it:). Ka-Bar knives of this type are pretty common, and rarely sell over the $30 mark.

They do make good using knives. It's nice to see a knife get passed down through the generations like that:).

HTH:D:).
